New World : Brooklyn Heights v. 1.0

I appreciate everyone who gave Brooklyn Heights a test run and reported back any findings.  I am pleased to report a newer version of Brooklyn Heights is now available for download, complete and ready to go!  There are a few skyscrapers in the downtown area that say reserved - the outside is decorated but the inside is empty. I did this intentionally so that I had some open lots for when other EPs come out there is space to add the new lot types.  If I create one of them into an apartment I will upload it accordingly.

I also appreciate all of the votes on the poll... I am thinking maybe a jungle city next?  What are your thoughts?

Brooklyn Heights Details
Requires:  Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions and Late Night
World Size:  Large with plenty of housing and lots for future EPs which are decorated on outside
Description:  If your sims dream of living in the city - or in a more suburban area outside of the city - consider moving to Brooklyn Heights!  Your sims will enjoy a variety of housing options from larger estates away from the hustle and bustle to a quaint apartment right in the middle of it all!  There are several parks, clubs, all rabbit holes, library, gym, graveyard, fire station, salon, consignment shop, junkyard and a hangout.
This world does not contain any custom content but does use a download to access the apartment mailboxes, shells and food trucks.

*Please note that an alternate version of Brooklyn Heights is now available which fixes the Foothills Beach lot edge, adds waves to the coastline and some large lots on the residential side.  View Alternate Version.

  4. Love Brooklyn Heights! Played the updated version last night and it was great! There were a few lots that weren't named or had your file name (the consignment store and salon come to mind), but I just went in to edit town and fixed them myself.
I like worlds that are a mixture of areas, but I'm sure anything you make next will be wonderful.
    Thanks for being so creative!

  5. Brooklyn Heights looks great! I love the variety of roads and that they're not laid out in a grid. Would you consider posting some more details about it for potential downloaders, such as size, for instance? Also it'd be lovely with some more pictures, for instance to see the whole layout.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful work with us :D

  6. In regards to the file name, unfortunately for some reason that happens when placing the EA made lots... no idea why, it happened in Bridgeport to me when I installed LN.

I had more details on the first Brooklyn Heights post but I suppose it would make more sense to have it on this one as well! Thanks for pointing that out - I will add those to this post :)

Hi! I posted this on the EA thread for this world but thought I'd post it here, too, since I know you're pretty busy. What an awesome husband you have, btw, that he helps with the kids so that you can have some time to do what you love!

I had an idea for something you could do with the empty shells that you have reserved for future use. In another creator's world, he had these emply buildings with commercial names just to add to the city vibe. So I thought you could set them to commercial, no visitors allowed, and then name them some commercial name like Simlife Mutual Insurance or Simolean National Bank. You can still do something else with that space later but for now that would make sense to me, but it's your call of course. Great job, loving the world so far!

  8. @Tangie - I appreciate the idea and if there were to be some things come up as to why I would need to reupload Brooklyn Heights I might but I'd want to also have a way to designate to you (or myself when I play) that there actually isn't anything at this lot to do :S

@Everyone - I appreciate the comments and hope that everyone is loving it! =D

  9. Hi simrealtor.

I love your Brooklyn high. They only thing I noticed was the lot edges by the beach. I tried deleting the beach and the placing it again, but that didn't help. Even delete the lot but It wouldn't let my place a new lot, so that is also not an option.
But besides that I love the place and moved all my sims to Brooklyn. I found myself a new city! Thank you!

  10. I just took a look at Brooklyn Heights and it is amazing! By far one of the best worlds I have ever seen and it's not huge so it's playable too! This honestly is what I wish Bridgeport had been like, that city was just too big and too grungy for me. EA oughta hire you!

  11. I hate lot edges but I don't think I'll probably re-upload for that one lot.

    @Bio- Thanks, I hear that a lot! =D

  12. Hi! I have been playing your worlds for a while (my first was Elba Village - still have fond memories of that one! :)) and I am LOVING Brooklyn Heights!! I have a question I'm really hoping you can answer for me. My sims are living at Huntington Apartments, over by the Brightmore Disco Club and every sim who comes into the building can't seem to get back out. I can only get my own sims out by maneuvering them click by click out the front door and even then, I have to maneuver them all the way to the sidewalk before they can go to work. They keep giving me that "I'm blocked by such and such", with a picture of the shell's front doors (NOT the front doors you installed). I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is! I thought maybe there wasn't enough space between the shell doors and the doors you built in but even after they get out of the shell doors, they won't go anywhere because they're blocked (at this point, I can't tell by what). I literally have to get them to the sidewalk to get them to go anywhere.

For now, I'm going to move them to a different apartment so no rush on answering me, if you don't have the time. But I'm really hoping you can help me with this because other sims keep getting stuck in the building and passing out on the floor. :P

    Thanks for your time! :)

  13. @Fae - I'll have to look into that. I haven't had any other reported issues like that - if anything just delete that lot and I'll try and whip up a new apartment building to replace that one!

  14. Thank you!! I'm just about to start my game to see if I can figure out what's going on. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Still no idea what was going on. They're living in a new apartment now. :) Might've just been a game save fluke...

  16. I am such a fan of your worlds! I've been having problems with Brooklyn Heights though--my Sims teleport to work, to the top of stairs, bushes, etc., and I've never used the teleportation cheat or anything of that nature.

    ReplyDelete
  17. That is certainly an issue I've not encountered before. I am not even sure what steps to direct you to try as I've not had any other reports of this. Do you have any other CC installed? Did you install anything else into your game at the same time that may be causing this? Lastly, is your game patched? I have my game patched up until the LN patch and no further.

    ReplyDelete
  18. My launcher says it's up to date, 7.0--but thesims3 exchange always says to update my game...? I do have CC.

I posted about the teleportation and possible patch issue on their forum.

I hated to even post about it because your worlds are my staples! So beautiful and thoughtful! :D

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well I don't think its a world issue just because that is one of my more popular worlds and I haven't had any similar findings. I doubt that patching is an issue - I do not use the latest 2 patches and so you are most likely fine. I am sorry I don't have any other ideas... the only other thought was if you installed some CC around the same time to try removing that or you can always try reinstalling the world and seeing if that helps.

  20. I just want to pop by again and say a giant thank you!! Every time I load my game, I find something new! You are so detailed. I love it! So thank you for taking the time to create worlds for other users AND for taking the time to help them with their various issues!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. This world is looks really awesome. I was just wondering if your worlds came prepopulated? I'm really lazy when it comes to placing people in worlds.

    ReplyDelete
  22. You know thus far they are not, but I plan to create a save file for each of my worlds to upload in the near future once I finish my current world. Either way, from what I've heard, my worlds populate pretty fast :)

  23. Hey I was wondering if you have a version of this that I could work on in CAW myself because I don't have Late Night and I would like to delete those before hand:D If you understand what I mean.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I meant like the high rises and what not lol

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Bella - I am afraid that I do not release the CAW files for my worlds and unfortunately you would not be able to just delete the skyscrapers. There are a vast amount of objects, including the bridge, that I use in this world that require LN as well.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Just a quick note - I just noticed on my ad above the comments that the price on LN is now only $20 - which is quite a bit less than I paid! Just so you know - its really an EP I like so I'd recommend it.

  27. Hi,

I love Brooklyn Heights! It looks so realistic!
    So i have a question:
May i take photos of this world and show it to other Members of the German forum "The Sims 3 Marketplace?"
I really want to show it to my German friends!
Of course i tell the others that you're the Creator!
Hope you permit me to show it to others in the forum,

    Jero

  28. @Jero - You are more than welcome to do that, I would appreciate that very much... that is one of the greatest compliments you can give, spreading the word about my site and work!

  29. Gosh you have to get the Pets expansion pack it looks so fun I wonder what will be new in CAW

  30. Im curious to know, Why are there reserved Buildings? Like what do I do with them.. Please respond Im so Tearful about it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Reserved buildings are in most of my worlds after I learned a lesson that I had to leave space for future EP lot types. For example, all of those clubs came with LN but then in older worlds like Meadow Glen there really isn't room for them. So that is why I built those. I decorate the outside so they blend in but leave them empty for future lot types so I can add them easily in the future.

  32. Hi, I love your work.

Just one problem. I've been living in the Lincoln Apartments located in this world. I love the penthouse however I noticed there is an invisible object or broken tile right in front of the coffee machine in the kitchen. As a result, sims go the long way around the kitchen to avoid the tile. I started a new game file to see if it was maybe created while I was playing the game but the problem still exists in a new save. I tried bulldozing the lot and replacing it but it didnt work. Any idea what is causing this to happen or how I can fix it? Thanks.
